Greetings, Spring is here and Prometheus is shaking off the winter doldrums by hitting the road. We hope you'll join us and our friends at Free Press for the sixth National Conference for Media Reform in Denver, CO from April 5-7. Over three days, hundreds of people will descend on Denver to share and learn about today's pressing media and technology issues, meet amazing activists from around the country and build new skills. Prometheus will be joined by our friends and partners, such as the Center for Media Justice, Color of Change, Future of Music Coalition, Media Mobilizing Project and many more. There will be over 80 sessions, workshops and trainings as well film screenings and other art performances. If you haven't registered, there's still time! Prometheus will host two workshops (more info below!) and we'll be meeting with folks all throughout the conference to talk about the October 2013 low power FM application window. Also, we'll be meeting with folks one-on-one to assist them with engineering consultations while at the conference. If your community is interested in applying for a license, email technical@prometheusradio.org to set up an appointment during the conference! This is first-come, first-served so get in touch! We'll see you there! Electromagnetically yours, The Staff at Prometheus Workshop: "Want Your Own Community Station?"Sat. We will discuss some of the great community radio stations that are already on the air and give you the inspiration to build your own. What does it take to start a community radio station? This how-to workshop will teach you what you need to know to get on the air. We'll talk about finding a spot on the dial, fundraising, planning your programming, and applying for a license. April 6 4:00-5:30 PM Both sessions will take place in the Plaza Court 7 Room Join Prometheus' Ana Martina and Paul Bame and Tim Russo from Free Speech Radio News for this hands-on electronics workshop! We'll help participants build their own low power FM radio transmitters using Tetsuo Kogawa's simple FM transmitter design that uses only 14 components and can be built quickly. The final transmitter is small enough to carry in your pocket and has a broadcast range of about 10 meters. You can plug in your MP3 player and broadcast your own signal with this DIY FM transmitter. Beginners welcome! (Please note this workshop has two parts.) For more info and updates, click here. | Thank You Donors! The following people contributed to Prometheus between 1/1/12 and 01/31/13.
